The Estate comprises farmland and predominantly broadleaf woodland established on drumlins (small hills) with spectacular views over Strangford Lough.

It includes 3 large islands on Strangford Lough which are leased to the National Trust, where the tidal flats are home to the world’s largest population of migratory Brent geese.

Some of the woodland has been identified as pockets of the ancient forest that once covered the island of Ireland.

The management of the Estate seeks to maximise its natural biodiversity, with the recent introduction of regenerative farming practices such as cover cropping and rotational grazing on herbal leys, and the planting of native species woodland.

The Estate hosts populations of red squirrels, pine martens, otters, stoats, foxes, badgers, woodpeckers and ravens, as well as more common birds and animals.
